The Last Day of February

Monday, February 28, 2011

Well today is the last day of the month! I usually enjoy February, theres Valentine's day, there is rainy days, but I enjoy it the most because it only has 28 days. Some might say this is strange, but I enjoy having a month out of the year with 2 or 3 less days, it makes things.... smoother. I decided to end the month with a nice and warm layout! I worked on this one for about 3 hours trying to get all the yarn in there and trying to get it straight. I didnt add many embellies, or accents because the yarn speaks for itself. Didnt want to overpower it ya know! Check it out!

I think after this one I wont want to work with yarn for some time lol. I hope you guys get a chance to work with yarn on your layouts sometime it is fun!! I finally got to use some of my new Cosmo Cricket stuff I got too, you guys will see some more of that.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to enjoy the last day of February!!

Love, Frank

One in a Million

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Hello everyone, hope you guys are enjoying the chilly weather out there! I am so happy because I got myself a puppy!! He's a miniature dachshund and he is totally adorable!! So I've been caught up in buying him his puppy supplies and everything!!! But I did get a chance to scrap this morning before work which was great! Here's a picture of my puppy first:

He is a total cutie! Today I was inspired to work with scraps I had left over from other layouts, it's always nice to use things you have left over, and to make them work! I used a envelope, some stickers i had hanging around, and that little loopy strip which is adorable! Here is the layout:

I love it so colorful and fun!! Hope you guys have a great day!

Love, Frank

I had the opportunity today to go to Disneyland and see some Chinese folkloric dancers, some tae-kwon-do martial artists, and even some dragon dancers. It was all part of "family fun weekends" and it was a wonderful afternoon with hubby. We got to see some nice dancers, and even got to see Mulan! Anywho, I am sharing a new layout I made today. Got home a little tired but after a nice nap I got to some scrappin. I call it smile, because his smile in this picture is so calm, but it really makes you wonder what that smirk is all about? Well we were about to go buy some goodies at Vitamin Shoppe, his favorite supplement store, so it figures. Check it out:

As you can see I am still into those rosettes, and you will be seeing more of them! I just adore them and want to put them on everything!! I like the butterflies coming out of the envelope, so nice.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

Making Scrapbooking Affordable

Thursday, February 3, 2011

Hello everyone, it is so cold over here in Southern California, we are so not used to this weather, I like it, but I know lots of people hate it, but its not too bad, I'm sure those people affected by the snow wish they can have our weather, blessings to them. Anyway, yesterday one of my friends asked me, how do you make scrapbooking affordable? It's so expensive! Well I must say that I disagree with that!!! Scrapbooking can be very affordable if you know how to shop around! Here are a few tips:

1. Michaels Coupons
Michaels offers coupons weekly for up to 50% off one item in their store, which means, you can get a nice paper pad ( Tim Holtz, My Minds Eye, and even Basic Grey) to get you started for under 9 dollars, how sweet is that? You can also use it towards tools, and stickers, but I always use it for the more expensive items. Check your Sunday paper, or sign up for their newsletter here to receive them weekly.

At first I was a bit skeptical of this website, it sounded too good to be true, you mean to tell me you can get Jolee's stickers that retail for $4.99 for only $1? Crazy! I've personally ordered from this website and all I can say is that they have the biggest deals around! Most things are under 3 dollars, and they have scrapbooks for under 10 dollars. They even give you free shipping on orders over $20!! Try them out here.

3. Have a Crop
If you scrapbook with a group of friends scrapbooking can become very inexpensive, the more the merrier. Everyone can pitch in to buy tools, and paper, and this can be very fun at the same time, I actually would say scrapping with people is more fun because you can share ideas and more!

4. Visit Independent Scrapbooking Stores
Sometimes Michaels wont carry everything you need, so I looked around for small scrapbooking stores in my area and found one. Now I have heard of people say that these stores are expensive and all but you gotta find out what offers they have. I go to one in Bellflower California called CI Scrapbooking, and they from time to time have a 40% off entire purchase promotions, this is when I go and stock up! Look around your area you would be surprised how many people have stores.

5. Be a Smart Shopper, Look for Bargains
Something hubby has taught me is, never buy anything regular price because eventually it will be on sale. Be proactive, find sales and deals. I also visit Big Lots from time to time and find they have great quality items for under 5 bucks. Don't be scared to look into clearance bins, and last one items, these items can be greatly reduced in price and save you money.

6. Look Around Your House
Scrapbooking doesn't have to be about spending all your money, sometimes little knick knacks around the house can be used for your scrapbooks, also cardboard and different memorabilia. I use movie tickets as embellishments, theme park tickets etc.

And there you have it! Hope these tips were helpful and if you can think of any others comment below!
