A Penny

Sunday, June 27, 2010

Today I did a quick page, actually it started out as being a quick page and ended up taking more time than I expected. It turned out beautiful. I placed some tissue paper, I distressed some tickets that say keep this coupon, added some accents, I also added a quote that reads, " A Penny for your thoughts, A nickel for your kisses, a dime if you tell me that you love me" I love it I read it somewhere.  I also love Prima flowers, I am starting to fall in love with this new scrap brand i found called Tattered Angels, more of that later. Until then happy scrappin' thanks for passing by.

Birthday Card for a Friend How- To

Friday, June 25, 2010

I made this card today for a friend, here are some of the steps I took. It is fun easy and very creative and inexpensive as well.

Step 1:
Grab a 12" x 12" piece of cardstock and cut it to 5 ½” x 12". Place 5 ½” x 12" piece of card stock horizontally, and score at 2”, 4”, 8” and 10” with your bone folder.

Step 2

Turn cardstock a ¼ turn.

Along the long edge, measure in 1 ½” .

Make a slit with a
craft knife between the score marks at 2” and 10”. Repeat on the other long side as well.

Step 3

Fold card as pictured.

After this decorate to your heart's whim, I personally chose to make a vintage look, I added some flowers, some die-cuts, some cardboard, and stamping, you can really add anything you like. Here is the finished card.

I added lots of vintage elements and a quote that reads " Friends are like the chocolate chips in the cookie of life" Hope you guys enjoyed this and I hope to see some of you try this tri-fold card, email me yours so you can be featured to fgar30@gmail.com.

Have a great Friday!

Blocks, Blocks, and More Blocks

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Today was a great day to scrap, I got out early from work, and I had a page I had been working on for the past couple of days. This page I love because I really went all out with the 3D effects, everyone seems to be doing it anyway. I love these building blocks by K& Company, I cut them all out from a 12x12 paper and started to stack them. I then placed a piece of cardboard behind the page and ripped a slight opening to give it some roughness. I continued to add more and more blocks. I love the effect. I used letters and animals that had personal significance in my life. This is what makes this page stand out, and makes it special. Most of these letters are either names, or nicknames, the animals represent something, and the items such as the bell are of moments shared. Quite special. I added a thought up on top that says 'I am proud of you because", and what is there not to be proud about, my lovely hubby is the best! He is such a cutie, and a wonderful person and I love him to death. I hope you all have people in your lives to be proud about as well.

Summer and Wishes and Mango?

Thursday, June 17, 2010

After carefully discussing with my dog not to bite my internet connection I finally got back to the internet today! These couple of days of non-blogging gave me a chance to go out and shop for some new scrap items. I went to a local scrapbooking store in Culver City California, they had a good selection of items, however nothing was priced. I am the kind of person that hates asking for prices. After asking a couple of prices, i figured out that most of the stuff was severely overpriced, a sheet of paper for 1.99? Anywho Im sure they have to make some money somehow right? I then went to Michaels and found a real bargain, I got about 50 sheets of 12x12 paper that included metallics, and flock, and glitter double sided priced 7 for $1 clearance price, now that's a deal one can appreciate. I also picked up a clearance cricut cartridge for $19.99 originally $89.99. So with this in hand I was motivated to start working on some new pages.

So this is a page that I had already previously made but I had to redo it. I had a real scrapbooking moment and the other page seemed lazy and undone. I was pleased with this one hehe.

I used some distress and my new cartridge, pretty colors and a couple of eyelets.

I also worked on a personal page I made of myself. I like this picture I took it on a small Snow White bridge it was a cute picture.

I used a lot of scraps on this one, some prima flowers and leaves, I love re-using scraps and the scalloped paper was great.

-Hope you guys have a great Thursday, I'm watching Toy Story 3 tomorrow you guys should head out and watch it with your families.

June!

Friday, June 11, 2010

Times are getting definitely warmer these days. Since we are in such a warm weather I decided to work on a June layout. I am liking these monthly layouts because I love the way the colors change and the way the pictures look absolutely gorgeous. This layout was based on a picture I took the seventh of this month. I used some orange paper because what a better color to use than orange. I then worked on some distressed tickets. I got these tickets at a dollar tree they were initially white and I distressed them to become what they are now. I added some eyelets to the ends, and placed the picture on top of an old book page I had also distressed. I spelled out June with some K&Company chipboard letters that have a gorgeous purple tint to them. I love how they stand out on the orange paper. I then added some minor details such as that distressed tag and that white now reddish arrow.

-Have a great weekend.

Me and My Sister

I was overdue for a family page sooner or later. I don't take many family pictures as much as I would like. However, me and my sister came out great in this picture. I decided to show all of you the steps I took on this page. Its not hard at all and I used as little materials as I possibly could. A challenge of my own since I am running low on vintage materials, so I made some of my own.

1st step: I chose the paper, I am finding nicer and nicer paper everytime I go to Michaels. This paper by My Mind's Eye is called 29th Street Market. It is a beautifully made paper, I love the yellow tint and nice vintageness to it. There I go with my vintage-ness haha.

2nd Step: I used my brand new mister. Its by ranger, but you can use any mister really. I used Tim Holtz Distress ink applied some on a surface and sprayed some water on it. The colors I used were broken china, and peeled paint. This was the aftermath of that:

I like the watercolor feel to this effect. It looks like it was part of the paper to begin with.

3rd Step: I grabbed an old page from an old book. I bought a book at a local dollar bookstore. It was very old and perfect for distressing. So I distressed it using these inks.

I used a felt applicator to create a rubbed feel on the paper. I then cut out circles and made flowers by curling the paper. I saw a video tutorial on those earlier.

4th Step: Adding all the elements. I added the pictures, and distressed it a bit with the same inks. I also added a few acetate embellishments to create that togetherness feeling. After that I ripped out some scrap paper I had and added a few pieces here and there. I distressed that as well. I also used one of the Tim Holtz gear masks and added a gear. I love the way it turned out. This page was mainly about distress, distress, distress and I can't stress it enough haha! Finally I added some green rub-on letters that spell out besty since my sister is my best friend also!

Have a great week everyone!

Font Freebie!

Thursday, June 3, 2010

This font called bobel by pitters, I think is extremely cute. It is so bubbly and full of life, I can so imagine this on a baby page or on a cute day on the town page. Anyway use it to your heart's desire!

Working with Mosaics

I recently purchased a set of Tim Holtz fragments, and I must say at first I thought hey what can I use this for? So I did this page with some of the fragments and I added some paper behind them and made some mosaics. I used some K&Company paper from their Que Sera Sera collection. I then used a mask and added some stamp ink and made that beautiful clock. I like using different materials so I added some cardboard, and that tag that sits along the edge of the picture was actually blank. There I go testing my distressing skills. I put a personal line down at the bottom that reads: " After 3 years I still love you like the first day we met." I really like this page because it involved something different I like using new materials, and new techniques. I do need to get more practice on distressing. I love this picture of him, he looks absolutely gorgeous, we took this after our Social Psychology class. The green grass and bright sky make his face stand out.

Thank you for stopping by!
